Most propaganda isn’t designed to fool critical thinking, but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all.
There is a revolution going on in the media. Audiences are no longer passive consumers but are becoming active participants and are demanding a say in what is covered and why. Information is not power until it leads to mobilization.
This campaign will bring together individuals, activists, and communities who all benefit from media that covers all of our issues and concerns. This campaign will gather support for media that supports us all. This campaign will activate and organize, turning a celebration of media into a positive movement for truth and true democracy. It takes a campaign to discover the world of independent media and the deeper world of understanding.
The ability for individuals and small organizations to make their own media has now come of age. Given the influence media has in our lives, independent, community and grassroots media efforts are a first step to returning voice to interests other than large multinational corporations.
With the growth of the Internet, independent media demonstrates a higher capacity for innovation than the complacent media giants. The future is in the hands of smaller, faster and independent agencies or journalists, who can feed news items independently of the major media conglomerates.
The Revolution Will Be Televised!
In the ever-growing battle between the corporations and the people, there are many who have taken to art and media as a terrorist would take to a gun. Struggling to turn the corporation’s weapons against them, these brave souls see themselves as the alarm clock against the slumber of the general population. Adopt terrorst tactics, assulting people with art, hijacking media to bring the nation’s face the mirror of truth, showing all what we have become. Cultural freedom fighters are winning the fight, albeit slowly.
Attaining Critical Mass
Real sustainable economic growth and security will come from expanding the information revolution to all parts of society It is the creation of quality content that drives growth. Treat information and knowledge as a renewable resource under the concept of sustainable development.
Extending the information revolution is predicated not merely on providing affordable, equitable and utilizable access to technology and knowledge. It also involves the support, development and sustainability of mechanisms that are both appreciated and relevant in the lives of people who use them.
Power – lets abolish it.
As we become truly global society, we must ourselves take charge of change. We must creatively seek out new opportunities, reallocate our resources and build on our strengths — current and emerging – and develop the strategies and tactics for success. At the same time, we must design administrative structures; policies and procedures to assure that our efforts and outreach can be supported. We must be responsive to the community and to a society, which places its trust in us to address the many issues and look out for the publics’ interests.
The media is above all a tool. A powerful tool, as much as nuclear weapons in the hands of governments and terrorists are powerful tools, but only tools after all. Because of this, what can be done by someone wielding it correctly can be a boon to mankind or the worst thing that has ever happened.
V I Lenin saw the newspaper as an educator and an organizer. He likened the newspaper to scaffolding that helps erect the building of a proletarian party.
Iskra promoted working class consciousness and provided a revolutionary education. It was a tribune, which engaged in political exposures and gave voice to the proletariat and other oppressed classes.
“The role of a newspaper, however, is not limited solely to the dissemination of ideas, to political education, and to the enlistment of political allies. A newspaper is not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, it is also a collective organizer”. [CW 5 p.22]
We count victories every day,
the other side can only consolidate their loses.
Information is not power until it leads to mobilization.
- A bold stroke into the masses
- organize the masses
- isolate reaction
- recruit revolutionary
Leverage resources as we serve the public.
Look to partners in the community, state and around the world. Identify and nurture new coalitions with business, government, other communities of scholars, and alumni.
