Working People Going Hungry New Study Says
The study suggests that in Oregon, hunger reaches many groups, including
some that don’t fit the traditional profile of the nation’s hungry…
The report “Food Insecurity and Hunger in Oregon: A New Look” was supported by the USDA’s Economic Research Service
In addition, the OSU Extension Service today released statewide and county-level profiles on “Poverty and Food Assistance in Oregon.” These profiles examine the economic well-being, poverty statistics and food assistance programs in each county.
Oregon Hunger Rate Still Ahead of National Average
Oregon’s hunger rate remains above the national average according to the latest numbers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Michael Leachman with the Oregon Center for Public Policy says with one in twenty Oregon households going hungry sometime last year, and one in seven households worried about being able to eat, there have to be some changes.
